Critical History

The sculpture of St Anthony of Padua was published and attributed to Joseph Straub by Sergej Vrišer.1 It is neither signed nor documented and according to Vrišer it was probably executed when Straub was working for the nearby parish church.2
The original location of the sculpture was a small chapel, by the main road between Selnica ob Dravi and Fala (approximately 500 m from the Parish Church of St Margaret the Virgin in Selnica ob Dravi). The statue was transferred to the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia in Maribor and later to the Regional Museum Maribor (currently not on view). The documentation on the transfers is currently missing.

Construction / Execution

The sculpture is made of wood.
