Critical History
The building Albrechtgasse 7 was erected in 1844 by Georg Hauerrisser the Elder, the façade was simplified in 1961.1 Between 1760 and 1770 Philipp Jakob Straub created the sandstone sculpture of Mary Immaculate,2 standing on a rocaille-console between the houses Nr 7 and 9 on the first floor level. She is depicted holding baby Jesus in her arms while she is weighing down the winged demon at her feet. Her head is stretched backward, the eyes are turned upwards. The rich drapery of her clothing appears tremendously vivid.
