Critical History

The sculpture of St John of Nepomuk has not been mentioned in literature. On the basis of stylistic analysis we can attribute the sculpture to Joseph Straub. There are several similarities with St John of Nepomuk in Štanjel dated in 1741. The original location of the sculpture is unknown. Probably it originated from a church destroyed during World War I.

Construction / Execution

The sculpture is made of wood and has a well finished back side because it was intended to be viewed from all sides.
