Critical History

Right side altar of St Rasso of Grafrath with St Bernard and Hermann the Lame, by Johann Baptist Straub, before 1755. Altarpiece of St Rasso by Johann Andreas Wolff, 1703. Inscription above the altarpiece "S. Rasso".

1751–1755, modernization of the church for the 300^th anniversary of the Benedictine Abbey in Andechs.

Comment

The altar is made of red stucco marble and the sculptures are carved in wood, the sculptures have a monochrome white painting layer with partial gildings. Frame, vases and details are gilded

Renovation of the entire interior of the church and restoration of the furnishings in 1878.

1998–1999, preliminary examination of the furnishings of the monastery church.

Treatment Description

The architecture of the side altars was also overpainted. The areas with original gilding were kept. "Johan Georg Huber" was the painter who performed the measurements. The white painting layer on the sculptures of the sidealtars was overpainted white and polished. The areas with original gilding were kept.
