Comment
The limewood is damaged by wood-boring insects and fungi. There are some fingers missing on an angel´s hands (right angel). The ground is cracking, lifting and falling off. The surface of polished gold that is still preserved is abraded and scratched.
The primary appearance was probably naturalistic painting with gilded wings and drapery. The last repolychromy was made by covering damaged gilded parts of drapery with bronze paint and applying oil paint to the skin parts of sculptures and wings. The inner side of the drapery was primary gilded. In the manner of late 19th century it was covered with a thick layer of oil painting.
