Straub Workshop in Graz

On February 8th and 9th 2018, Dr. Eva Klein, Prof. Margit Stadlober and Dr. Dagmar Probst from the Institute of Art History of the University of Graz welcomed the representatives from Croatia and Slovenia as well as colleagues from the University of Vienna for an international workshop as part of the EU project "Tracing the Art of The Straub Family". The meeting was devoted to the joint study of the works of the Straub brothers as well as the intensive exchange of research results.


Study excursion in Croatia

A small expert group, composed of art historians from Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia, visited several altars in Croatia attributed to Philipp Jakob Straub and Joseph Straub. Two-day excursion, from 17th to 18th October 2017, included visits to churches in Zlatar, Čakovec, Varaždin, and Kuzmica.


TrArS has been kicked-off!

By gathering of representatives of all partner institutions on the 20th and 21st September 2017 in Croatia, implementation of the international cooperation project “Tracing the Art of the Straub Family” has started. At the kick-off meeting held at the Croatian Conservation Institute in Zagreb, representatives from Austria, Croatia, Germany, and Slovenia reported condition in their countries. The participants gave an overview of artworks attributed to the Straub family, based on archival documents and comparative stylistic analyses. They also presented state of preservation of the artworks and methods of their conservation, particularly in case of ongoing or recently finished conservation works.
