Documenting the Straub artworks in Slovenia

In the last weeks a part of the Slovenian team, consisting of Saša Dolinšek (conservator-restorer, Restoration Centre IPCHS), Valentin Benedik (art historian, documentation, Restoration Centre IPCHS), Valentina Pavlič (art historian, University of Ljubljana) and Katra Meke (art historian, University of Ljubljana), has been documenting the works of Joseph Straub in the present-day Slovenian territory.

Valentina Pavlič, an art historian and a junior researcher at the department of Art Education at Faculty of Education and a PhD student at the Faculty of Arts (both University of Ljubljana), who is collaborating in the TrArS project, published a short article about an overlooked work of Joseph Straub in Bilten SUZD.

Joseph Straub and the Question of the Authorship of the High Altar in St Joseph Church in Slovenska Bistrica – fieldwork

Study Visit to Slovenia

After the technical group meeting in Austria, from 14th till 15th of March, project partners continued their study visit in Slovenia, organized by the University of Ljubljana and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia. Partners visited the Regional Museum Maribor where they had the opportunity to inspect works by Joseph and Philipp Jakob Straub.

Study Visit to Austria

From 12th to 14th of March, partners from Austria, Croatia, Germany, and Slovenia, working on the Tracing the Art of the Straub Family Project gathered in Graz for the technical group meeting and a study visit, organized by the University of Graz. The partners had an opportunity to visit the Cathedral and Church of Mariahilf, both located in Graz, as well as several locations in the region – the parish churches in Birkfeld and Ehrenhausen.
